Unfortunately, it looks quite a bit better in the photos than it does in real life.
The third blanket (remember the first and second?) made by request, it was my first attempt at creating my own charted pattern. I got the LA Dodger's logo from a Google image search, and converted it to a knitting graph. (Non knitters might just want to skip over the rest of this, sorry!) Then it was just a matter of doing stockinette stitch for the background, and doing a reverse stockinette for the pattern area. I think it would have turned out great if my yarn had been able to be blocked, but because this was meant for a newborn I used easy care acrylic, and it didn't block very well. The logo section got a little bunched up, since the stockinette naturally wants to curl. Oh, well, it was passable.
I gave the blanket a 12 stitch moss stitch (K1, P1) border, then a crocheted row of 2dc, 1ch, 2 dc in every fourth stitch on the top and bottom edges only.
I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids for the first time, because it came in the perfect Dodgers blue (washed out in the last photo, more true-to-life in the first two). Although it was worsted weight yarn, I went with size 5 needles, to get the logo to stand out as much as possible. For a first attempt at a charted design, I thought it was mildly successful. Not un-successful, that is. But I think it might be a little while before I try another charted design. Not as easy as it seems!
I think it turned out great!

Outstanding!
I know my dyed-in-Dodger-Blue-wool brother might me persuaded to try from Son #3 if there was a blanket like that in the offer.
His WIFE wouldn't. She's more of a Rockies fan :)
